SOPAs summer tour

SOPAs farm visits have been continuing over the summer kicking off with a visit to Strathtyrum Farm for our AGM & farm walk. Following on from this since the Royal Highland Show we've been to Dumfries house, Mains of Thornton, Wester Manbeen, Kinnordie Estate, Balmakewan and Deb's has visited Swanbister Farm on Orkney just this week.

We've been highlighting our visits in our newsletters and would really love some more hosts to step forward so we can continue showing off all the fabulous things our Members and others do for the environment, biodiversity, health of their livestock/crops/vegetables, innovation & diversification and it would be great to do some cross idea sharing and learning. More events are to follow:
Next week on 18th August is a visit to Langbarns dairy, Kirkcudbright, hosted by Propogate, to discuss organic dairying and parasite control. Donald, 15 months in to organic conversion, will share his path so far into regenerative and organic dairy since taking on the family farm a couple of years ago. We'll be joined by Moredun Research Institute to look at the impact of regen grazing on parasite and worm burdens, and have a go at Faecal Egg Counts in their mobile lab.

The day after on August 19^th is a visit to the Wee Dairy on the Dupplin estate in Perthshire, hosted by Propogate, where new converters Rachael & Tom will introduce us to their cow-calf micro dairy.
