Mossgiel Organic Dairy make historic milk deal

Bryce Cunningham and the team at Mossgiel Organic Dairy have made history this month striking a deal with 3 North Scotland dairy farmers whose contracts were being ended by their milk wholesalers as their small scale no longer suits their milk collection model.

Mossgiel have signed a collaboration with 3 farmers (Connage Highland dairy, Auchlea Farm and Wester Manbeen) to collect their milk in a bid to help them supply glass bottled, brewed milk down to London. The milk will be distributed by the Modern Milkman doorstop delivery service to the south of the UK, anchoring Mossgiel as one of Scotland’s only fully independent, organic dairies of its kind.

Brewed, non-homogenised milk offers a compliant alternative to pasteurised milk by gently pasteurising it at much lower temperatures for longer periods to preserve its natural structure, flavour and cream, offering a seasonally evolving flavour & reducing energy usage by nearly 90% compared to traditional methods of pasteurisation.

Bryce has commented “This is the biggest step we’ve taken so far towards building something better - not just for Mossgiel, but for small dairy farms that deserve a real future. Demand is being driven by people looking for milk that feels closer to its natural state”.
