Food Standards Agency lists hyperactive E numbers
4th May 2009The FSA has officially recognised 6 food colour additives that are associated with hyperactivity in children. And food businesses can now register with the FSA their foods that are additive-free and therefore help consumers avoid hyperactive-inducing food choices.
The additives listed by the FSA are
E110 sunset yellow FCF
E104 quinoline yellow
E122 carmoisine
E129 allura red
E102 tartrazine
E124 ponceau 4R
NONE of these additives are permitted in SOPA organic foods.
SOPA recommends organic food businesses contact the FSA to gain registration that you do not use these hyperactivity-associated food businesses.

All organic food businesses should be able to register because the additives are banned under the organic standard.
This is a clear message for consumers who are trying to avoid E numbers and food additives, that the easy shopping choice is to buy organic!
