Bluetongue Protection Zone in Scotland

Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs Richard Lochhead has announced the start of the vaccinations will commence on the 3rd November.

Vaccination against BTV is compulsory for cattle and sheep and strongly encouraged for other species of animal which are susceptible to BTV.

All organic farmers should liaise with their vet to secure the vaccine.

Farmers have until 30th April 2009 to complete full vaccination of herds and flocks.
