Proposed increase in Meat Hygiene Service fees
22nd September 2008SOPA meat processors should have been contacted by the MHS to seek views of operators because the MHS intend to increase their fees.
This will affect MHS registered meat cutting plants, abattoirs and meat processing premises.
The fee increases will apply to some meat businesses from January 2009 and arise out of the exchange rate. It is EU law for charges to be set at a minimum, and because the sterling has fallen so far against the Euro, the minimum rates will likely be breached in the UK.
