We are thrilled to announce that we have launched a brand new award to celebrate the organic industry in Scotland!

The new SOPA Award for Organic Excellence aims to celebrate innovation, best practice and outstanding business achievement within the organic sector in Scotland. The award is open to all Scottish-based organically certified businesses from the farming and food and drink sectors.

The prize rewards excellence in Scottish organic food and farming, and the judges will be seeking successes coming from approaches to organic management that are extra-ordinary, above and beyond the norm, and striving for the best that can be achieved in an organic business based in Scotland.

Specifically, the judging panel will be looking for innovative approaches to the organic farming or food and drink sector in Scotland such as unique management practices within each business, attention to detail, exciting marketing initiatives and new product developments.

SOPA (Scottish Organic Producers Association) has led the Scottish organic sector since 1988, operating as a member co-operative representing more organic businesses in Scotland than any other organisation.

The SOPA Award of Organic Excellence sheds light on outstanding achievements, encouraging new concepts of management to maximise quality production within the organic standards.

Debs Roberts, SOPA Policy Manager, had the following to say about the award:

“We’re really excited to be launching this new award, and for the recognition it will bring to the organic industry in Scotland. We’ve got so many fantastic businesses here, and we want to shout about them as much as possible!”

She continued:

“We’re hoping that by encouraging people to nominate their local organic businesses that we’ll see a wide array of producers and suppliers, from the larger well-known companies to small, individual traders.”
