UK leaving the EU

Eu_logo_article_detail

The UK has left the EU under the Withdrawal Agreement as of the 31st January 2020.

The UK has entered a transition period until the end of 2020.

During this time, businesses will be able to trade with the EU on the same terms as they do currently.  There are no immediate changes that will come into effect from 31st January that organic businesses need to prepare for. Organic production and processing will continue to follow EU rules until the transition period ends.  This includes import/export rules and labelling requirements.

The Defra Organics Team have compiled a FAQ briefing that contains information on organic labelling, importing and exporting during the transition period.  All SOPA Members have been sent this briefing note, or you can download it here
