Inspection of organic products is not just a legal requirement, but it is essential to protect against fraud
It is illegal to offer for sale any food as organic unless it has been produced in full conformity with the EC Regulation by registered producers. So the use of the word 'organic' on the label or by the shopkeeper is your guarantee that it has been organically produced.
The full life cycle of the organic product is subject to inspection.
