Organic Standards apply to Simple Food Processing such as
- Peeling, chopping and slicing
- Packing and repacking (for instance box schemes)
- Blending where the nature of the food is not changed eg muesli
- situations where the nature of the food is not changed eg flour mlling or butchery cutting
Simple food processors can be on-farm premises or dedicated units.
It is not always apparent whether food processing is Simple or more complex.
